We discovered
alpacas in 2002 by the “I Love Alpacas.com” ad on TV. Our research began
and we fell in love with the animals. We love their gentle nature, soft
fiber, and adorable faces! It was also the type of opportunity we wanted
for our future retirement plans. We were dairy farmers for the first 17
years of our marriage. Hager Farm has been in our family for over 100
years with a variety of animals residing here at different times. It was
a dairy farm for many years until 1989, when Dale purchased and built a
very successful real estate appraisal business. Dale’s goal was always
to return to the farm. We purchased our first three bred females in July
2002, and by the end of the year they were settled here on our farm with
their crias!
The alpacas have
put life back into our farm and we are building a high-quality
full-Peruvian herd. We are excited as we watch our dream of becoming a
full-service top-of-the-line breeding farm start to materialize. With
our livestock background and our experience in building successful
businesses, we are confident of a very bright future.
